My dad wasn’t much of a talker and I wasn’t much of an asker, so I don’t have any real huge memories of mind-blowing conversations between us when I grew up.  The one thing I did know is that he loved sports.  He loved to play sports, watch sports and basically live and breathe sports.  It could be golf, basketball, baseball, but he really loved football.  In the area we grew up you had a few teams you could root for professionally: Pirates, Browns or the Bengals.  For college football, there was only one team: The Ohio State.  Football is such a loved and historically-rich sport in Ohio that the state even hosts the Football Hall of Fame in Canton (and, yes, my dad took us there).  I never really asked how to play the game, but I would sit quietly and watch, rooting for whoever he was rooting for that game.  Interestingly, now it is my favorite sport.  I know quite a bit about it and follow college football like it is my job!  While my dad did not discourage us from liking or learning football, we are having fun teaching our daughters about all things sports, especially FOOTBALL.  I want them to be able to actively understand and watch with us and find our traditions (special chili, dip, drinks, etc.) to be fun.  What better way to teach her than a play-by-play book by knowledgeable authors aimed to teach children everything football?  Yes, that was my thought, too.  I want it!
