Recycling and cutting down on waste was something that was drilled into my head from an early age when my mom meticulously sorted all of our trash in different groups in our laundry room. Having kids made both Bob and I think about our duty to try and make the world a little less damaged by our processed lives for our children and it is especially hard when we live in a world of convenience. Baby pouches of purees are super easy when on-the-go and are always a hit with new eaters, but the packaging seems so wasteful. I knew I wanted to give Yummy Pouches, the new reusable puree pouches since Brooke was a baby, a shot for Baby Brie to see just how easy it would be to make and refill our own pouches and save the packaging from processing or the landfill.
The Yummi Pouches are food grade material pouches (BPA-, PVC-, phthalate-free) to whip up purees and smoothies for your baby. The pouches come in three different pouch sizes; 2.5oz pouch size for baby food, 6 oz size for smoothies and blended snacks, and 10oz sport pouch ideal for fitness beverages and smoothies. They are freezer and dishwasher safe so it makes reuse so easy. The pouches are also recyclable after they have lived a long and healthy lifespan! Yeah! I am happy to report that we think the pouches are easy to fill and easy to wash. The convenience factor for disposable pouches do seem enticing, but (with the help of a really good blender) the Yummi Pouch is a few extra steps in creating healthy snacks for your child without extra waste.
