If you kept up with my blog (even through the latest hiatus and periodic posts) you know that our family’s love of books never stopped when my posts did. In fact, our book collection is getting a little ridiculous and new baby Bacon is the product of us learning from past mistakes in the book department. As a family of bookworms, we start reading to our kids from day one. However, we learned a little too late with our oldest that when her teeth began coming in that books also made a great teething toy! Oops! We are not making that same mistake with our next daughter and Workman Publishing makes something called Indestructible books that are perfect to leave without worry in the hands of your baby or toddler. That means they are bite, crush, wash and chew-proof! Oh yes!
The Indestructibles Book Set are made with nontoxic, paperlike material that you can even throw into the washing machine and dishwasher. I haven’t gone that far yet but the videos on the Workman site have proof! There are so many of these books, such as Baby Babble, that are perfect for the first time ‘reader’ that you will just have to check out their entire collection. Since I love book sets, Amazon has a nice one going on for the entire Indestructible Set. While the Indestrutibles books will not stop me from reading my daughter lots of different books at a higher level when she is little, I have learned my lesson at leaving books in her reach during teething time. I love that she can always have the books near her without doing them any harm. Plus, with a little soap and hot water, this book set will be passed on to the next generation of bookworms. Books to us are meant to be shared and thanks to Indestructibles, these baby books can be passed on without the usual wear and tear!
