Survive! Inside the Human Body Series {Paperback}

Cartoon guides to human biology, for kids

I will be the first to admit that I HATE blood and guts.  When I had to start pricking my finger to check sugar levels it took me a full three months to not get queasy and want to pass out.  The human body is full of fascinating and ummm yucky things that help make our world go ‘round.  Why shouldn’t human biology be fun?  Perhaps if I had started learning about things like colonic bacteria before high school, I may be less inclined to throw up when I think about things like how the liver, arteries and veins actually work.  If your child watches too much Doc McStuffins, they may love to learn about how CT Scans, MRIs, EEGs and PET scan work.  Things like stomachs producing acid and food breaking down in the small intestines might get their juices flowing.  It certainly helps that my husband was an Army Medic that loves to tell her about those ‘disgusting’ things.  Okay, I’m totally biased and jealous that my stomach can’t handle the medical jargon, but I am in love with the fact that Brooke totally digs it.  Right now, there are three books in this series (Circulatory, Digestive and Nervous Systems) and I’d love to see more.  Brooke now says she wants to be a doctor, so who knows?  These books may actually set her up for success!
