Pay Attention to Reading
One day I was watching my daughter picking up some of my paperwork on the kitchen table and studying them carefully. “What are you doing?” I asked her, very curious. “I’m reading the instructions”, she said very innocently. I had to chuckle. She is always picking up things we say and do and she learned that reading instructions were very important. When I read this book to her she was intent on saying Ozzie needed to learn to read the instructions and she was right! This book is a great example to kids for teaching them to pay attention to what you are reading even if you just do art!
Ozzie is a GREAT artist. He loves to draw and is better at it than anything he was good at doing; skateboarding, making paper airplanes and even his boats! When Ozzie sees there is a contest at school for the best artist, he just knows he will win. He is so confident that when he ‘reads’ the contest rules he is ready to start draw his winning picture of a goat. Too bad that is not what the contest rules said to draw! Uh oh! What happens is a lesson in paying attention and reading instructions that is just as pertinent for us adults as our kids!
