While I was bouncing between doctor’s appointments for my high risk pregnancy, my mom’s dad was bouncing back and forth in between ICU and a clinic. I’ve heard daily updates from many states away via my mom for months now about him losing a limb, retaining fluid and set-backs to hopeful conversations about his status. While I am celebrating a new life, his status is still in limbo as we all hope for him to return home. I think we all need some positive distractions. I speak about him for a reason; his last name is Chapman and his nickname at work was the famous Johnny ‘Applecore’ Appleseed (whose real name was John Chapman) so it seemed fitting while doing a review on a company called Appleseed Lane!
Appleseed Lane is a monthly subscription box for kids that contain a new theme and materials for fun and learning! I am always welcoming positive ways to keep my kids busy (especially when my brain isn’t fully functioning) and I found a great ally in Appleseed Lane. They have taken all the guesswork of play activities for parents like me who may need a little help with a new baby and family health issues. Brooke loves getting mail especially if it means new things to have fun with and play. I also enjoy doing craft and science projects that get her brain flowing. The nice thing about the Appleseed Lane Box is that she can use her imagination on her own which has been a great help to me and her daddy so that we can actually get *gasp* chores done around the house! Now that is truly amazing these days! So what does each Appleseed Lane Box include?

What items did we get for December? This month’s box was all about being a spy and was called ‘Crime Scene Science’! We have been on a private eye kick, so this was really fun. We were able to make and check out invisible ink, make our own ‘tracks’ (hand prints), find hidden colors through chromatography and learn about different fingerprint patterns through a project called ‘Sticky Fingers’. Do you think we were able to crack the code of the Missing Cookie? Oh yes!
