If you read my review on the Boogie Music Dance Kit or their last “In Tents” album, you have already gotten a little flavor of the three-person elementary school teacher band from Seattle entitled Recess Monkey. This lovely and musically fun band has just released a brand new ninth album entitled “Deep Sea Diver” and it is fantastic! Adorably called what Seattle deems as “kindie” music (*ahem* ‘kid indie’ music), that title does fit the bill and I tap my toes and sing the lyrics along with Brooke. Nicely nicknamed the “blue album,” this is an ocean-themed recording that is supposed to be set in a submarine that plumbs the musical depths of the sea. But – oh no – it then becomes shipwrecked on the beach of a distant lost island! What are the Recess Monkeys to do? Chronicle it through song, of course! This album was named one of the best of the summer from People Magazine and I have to agree. There are so many catchy hooks and upbeat sounds you can’t help but groove along to the music with your child. Two fins up!
