What Are You Thankful For, Sam?

Overall, this has been an amazing year.  I have gotten down a few times with people being sick, death, having to deal with personal health issues and a tight budget.  BUT – I am more thankful for the birth of my beautiful younger daughter who actually came at exactly 38 weeks (we were concerned she would be a preemie) and that my family is awesome and that I do have a good job.  It is so easy to get caught up in the negative that it is hard to see all the positives.  It helps to surround yourself with upbeat people that won’t let you get down (thank you especially to my beautiful friend, Karla) and I want to be that person to my children.  I want them to be thankful and I need to show them as their parent what that means and looks like and was so happy to find this sweet book about being thankful.  Oh, and it’s perfect for Thanksgiving, too!

Thanksgiving Day Thanks is a children’s book about Sam the Bear and his learning about the holiday of Thanksgiving.  He learns his lessons at school and his classmates chime in on what they are thankful for in their lives like football, sweet potatoes and shopping and even recreate the first Thanksgiving meal.  Sam wants to create a very special Thanksgiving by re-creating the Macy’s Day Parade complete with balloons!  When things don’t go exactly as planned (let’s just say it didn’t go well), Sam realizes he is more thankful for his friends and family than any special event he could make.  This book shows kids the importance of being grateful and has two pages in the back with interesting Thanksgiving facts!  Great read!
