Books take on such special meaning to me and it was not unusual for me to devour three to six books in a weekend in my pre-teen years. I still get a little sad when I think of ‘Flowers for Algernon’ or very contemplative when I remember ‘The Giver’ or even a little giddy when I remember that pre-teen throw away book that had just enough wacky humor to keep me coming back, ‘Me and My Mona Lisa Smile’. Children’s books now take up most of my reading and books like, ‘Guess How Much I Love You’ is now a book that I think of as ‘the grandparent book’. See, it is one of those Recordable Books for kids I sent my parents to read to Brooke since they live far away. It was Brooke’s first real ‘interaction’ with my parents before we made a road trip to Ohio months later. We probably listened to that book three times a day for months and it is still in our rotation (although it does need new batteries at the moment). And just like that, I imagine I will always pick up items that are related to ‘Guess How Much I Love You’. I suppose that is how most hoarder collections start: love and nostalgia.
The Guess How Much I Love You Hidden Treasure DVD is based on the book of the same name in an animated form. Those who love and know the book will know that reading the Little Nut Brown Hare and his dad’s conversation about loving each other to the moon and back is one of the most touching things to read to your newborn/toddler. This animated DVD has the same sweet illustrations and features of the book but has been developed by Disney Junior into a series. This seven episode disc will be released on November 5, 2013 and is a perfect addition to the lovers of the book or those that want a nice wholesome cartoon to show their little ones.
