Concertina Musical Instrument (Age 3+)
PlanToys…Made with Sensitivity Toward Our Environment
A concertina is a musical instrument you don’t hear much about on a day-to-day basis. It dates back to 1829 and was developed independently in both Germany and England. It may look like an accordion since it is actually a free-reed instrument. There are some differences that make this instrument unique but also very enjoyable for your children to play and master. The main difference is that each button on the concertina produces just one single note. The concertina made a brief revival during the 1960s folk movement and is still a great musical toy to help children with spatial melody perception, sound pitches and motor skills. Plus, it’s pretty cool to say your child can play a concertina!
