Guitar String Bracelets and Rockin’ Eco Merch!

Music is one of the few things that will get me as giddy as a school girl.  I am terribly in love with songs.  I only enjoy crowds when they are swaying to the beat of some good tunes.  I used to have a vinyl saying on my wall before Brooke decided to mix up the letters that said, ‘Music is not what I do, it is who I am’.  Song writing, singing and playing guitar has always been a huge identifier for me and I can’t imagine it never being part of my life.  My first amp was a crappy Peavy I bought off a friend for twenty bucks and my first electric was a Fender Stratocaster Second Series (from Mexico) bought by a high school kid who had a well off family but he never played.  Strings, pedals, picks were all things that came at a cost and I remember running to Kassel Music on Front Street to get my electric guitar re-soldered before my live shows all the time so it would work (it never failed)!  Trading parts became part of my life and I’m also happy I was able to give a few acoustics to kids who wanted to learn but didn’t have the money.  Sure, I have my favorite music items; I could never get rid of my Dixon Odessa simply because of its personal value or my Martin because it was my first real nice guitar.  I am also lucky enough to pass on a guitar to my daughter, Brooke, from her grandpa that makes me sentimental just thinking about it.  Everything else is fair game that I would trade or give away if it benefited others.  That is the beauty behind Wear Your Music.  This organization recycles picks and guitar strings into beautiful jewelry but the real catch is you also have an option of purchasing items that were donated by well-known artists!  Wow!

Of course, if you get an item from a well-known artist, you will be paying for it, but I am just as enamored by their very cool guitar string recycled bracelet by an unknown artist.  Each bracelet is hand-crafted and a one-of-a-kind piece from used guitar strings and sterling silver.  How eco-friendly to recycle strings but they are also beautiful.  Oh, okay, they are rock and roll!  Each bracelet comes with a brass plated guitar pick charm (awww!) and you can add features like a birthstone charms or personalization.  I love this idea for kids who play or just love music.  The bracelets are even packaged as a guitar string in a paper string envelope.  Awesome.  Oh, another cool thing?  You can recycle your OWN guitar strings into a bracelet.  For double the price, you can turn your own strings into a work of art.  I think I’m in love.

Check it out!  This is a fun video on how Wear Your Music makes their guitar string bracelets here!

  1. Now that is a fun bracelet to make. I’m a jewelry artist working in sterling silver and copper, but this shown here is fun. I’ll probably make one of these as well.

    • As a guitar player, it makes it special that I could make one out of my own strings. Too bad I am not a jewelry artist!!!! The pick attachments are SO adorable. Best gift for a guitarist…boy or girl.
