Some of my favorite products from Brooke’s baby years are the ones that give us happy memories, like her recordable books that I had her grandparents read and record for her. In fact, she still likes to listen to them. I was so excited to read about the RecordablePal since I thought of all the possibilities I could use it for baby Brie! Mostly I got ideas of how I could have used them for Brooke; her time in the NICU, her transition to her bedroom, my travel nights for work and those nights she learned new tricks (like standing up in the crib) where hearing her parents talk to her at night on a loop would have been really nice. In fact, I really think I could still use this product with Brooke if I did something like record a half hour of silly jokes or songs that we sing together that she would love.
The RecordablePal is a genius plush product with a hidden voice recorder that was made by a mom of two (like me!) who wanted to get her sleep and her babies were only comforted by her voice. The awesome thing that I love is that you can record anything on this adorable owl (read a quick book, sing a song or just talk) for a complete 20 seconds and can loop it over and over at 30 minute intervals for your child to hear. While it is made especially for babies, I think it works well for kids up to kindergarten as a tool to help ease any separation from parents or even grandparents. To be honest, I would have loved to have one of Brooke singing for me from one of my last work trips that was for two weeks. The power of hearing your family member’s voice is strong and is such a soothing presence and I love that you can make this product your own.
