Let me start off by telling you a little bit about the Montessaurus Company.  They make hand-made, natural, non-toxic, environmentally-friendly products for kids based on the Montessori Method.  Want to hear something even better?  All of their products are made in the U.S.A.  Almost all of their products are geared to the age range of three to six years which is just perfect for us!  As I am a self-admitted believer and basic follower of all things Montessori (do a quick search on my blog on past Montessori reviews to learn more), I knew this company would be perfect for our family.  I was not wrong and I was so excited to see their memory block activities.

Montessaurus Memory Blocks Activity I was most interested in for my older daughter was the one on shapes and numbers.  As most Montessori items, it is beautifully made and does a number of educational and fun activities to stimulate a child’s brain and this product mainly focuses on concentration, awareness and matching memorization.  The wood is made from solid maple with transferrable non-toxic inks and paint.  The wooden blocks (2in x 2in x 1in) are printed with the below shapes and corresponding numbers as well as a study card-stock mat (11in x 17in).  My daughter loves these kinds of activities and this one was no different.  To watch her match shapes with numbers is fascinating and it is fun to see her concentrate and figure things out without asking for additional help.  Allowing a child to quietly work to solve puzzles is one of the things I admire about Maria Montessori’s methods for teaching children and I am always thrilled to gain another activity to encourage that independence and empowerment in my child.
