Product Review:  Charlie and the Christmas Kitty [Hardcover] (Age 4+)

When I saw this book, I immediately realized I recognized the author’s name but couldn’t put my finger on it.  It wasn’t until I saw the words; ‘Pioneer Woman’ that I realized this was a blogger’s book!  Cool!  As a blogger and someone who reads a lot, it’s not unusual for me to check out blog sites on a daily basis and I definitely heard about Ree Drummond.  In fact, check out her blog post about this very book back in September (and I think I am somewhat organized by scheduling posts a month ahead of time…ha)!  As you can imagine, I love to see other bloggers become successful and I’d say Ree is a great example of someone with talent and initiative who has taken her self-described ‘desperate housewife’ status from the country and use it to really become a household name.  If you watch the Food Network, you may have caught her cooking show that premiered in 2011 called ‘The Pioneer Woman’ (she is also a New York Times best-selling author for her cookbook, The Pioneer Woman Cooks).  Besides, anyone who personifies their pet, like Mr. Charlie, is alright in our book!

Charlie and the Christmas Kitty is a new book adventure for the holidays about the ranch dog, Charlie, from the mind of the hilarious blogger, Ree Drummond.  Charlie is based on Ree’s own dog named Charlie and the illustrations are eerily similar to the real dog.  If you love animals and want your child to get an idea of what it is like for your current pet when you bring home a new pet (always that fun adjustment period), this is a great book.  I could actually see this working well for parents of young children who are expecting.  Oh, and get this, Charlie likes BACON.  Good Charlie.
