Product Review: 2 Pack/SNACK PACK Apples & Oranges (Age 3+)

One of my best friends in college, I’ll just call him my monk friend, introduced me to a whole different world of art including screen printing. I remember watching him make his own canvasses and making artwork ‘from the earth’. My friend did become a monk and one of my saddest days in college was watching him leave Ohio to do his monk-things in all parts of the world. The impact he had on me during a very rough period of my life (yeah, that whole ex-restraining order hospital-court thing, but that’s for another blog!) was on the beauty that life has to offer and us appreciating nature and friendship while sitting quietly in the world contemplating life turned a difficult time into a start down a beautiful path that has led me to where I am today. Call it a moment of zen or just letting my brain be still enough to let the meaning of life stew inside (whatever floats your boat), but at the late bloomer age of nineteen is when I finally started to really understand what true friendship and unconditional love meant. I really started to understand who I was, where I wanted to be and how I would allow others to treat me and how I wanted to treat them which was somehow all connected with life. I honestly believe that was how I got to a place (because it didn’t happen overnight!) to understand love when two years later I started dating my now-husband (who had been a friend). The world is not ours to buy and sell and pollute and destroy on a whim for the made-up value of money or to ‘win’. It should be appreciated and is not ours for the taking. My impact in life is to hopefully be a kind person who helps those in need and to be a good friend. I will almost always return the favor (hey, I’m nice but not a total pushover!). Why am I rambling about this when this is clearly a product review on a snack pack of all things? The screen prints on the two pack Apples and Oranges pair are lovely, fashionable and, yes, eco-friendly. It is also 100% recycled. Sustainability is a lifestyle and I want to thank my monk friend (who, I think, still resides in Vermont from our last update) for not only giving me a new found appreciation of recycling art back in my younger years, he also gave me an even greater appreciation of caring for the earth and friends. After all, a truly good friend is someone who honestly cheers for you when you improve and grow (wow, what a concept!) and, just like my lovely monk friend, companies like Fluf encourage that goal.
