Product Review: Orangutan Van CD by Mr Steve (All Ages)

If you have a preschooler here in the US, you are probably familiar with “Mr. Steve”. Mr. Steve is a prominent fixture on the PBS KIDS channel and a huge supporter of literacy. In fact, Steve Roslonek visits libraries all over the country to encourage reading through a really cool program called “Soar with Reading”. Side note – Definitely check out the program that not only talks about reading as a way to ‘take flight’ (this program is co-sponsored by JetBlue –ha!), it also donates books to disadvantaged children and has donated over 200,000 books now!

Mr. Steve has not put out a full album in over six years and this one does not disappoint. It has a great message of a family traveling together in a van (with 11 seats – Wow!) and having fun singing songs. It has every young child key element: orangutan (check), recess (check), rhymes (check) silly songs and superheroes (check and check). Interwoven through the things kids already love is a lot of great messages like taking care of your body by brushing your teeth and the awesome message that reading rocks. It even has a song about Flat Stanley! If you have never heard of Flat Stanley, you are in for a treat (check out the books by Jeff Brown and learn how Stanley has been seen all over the world)! This is a fun and silly album the whole family will love. Thanks, Mr. Steve!
