The first time I rode on an airplane I was a teenager (almost an adult) on a trip to Madrid.  My parents had never traveled on a plane so I was pretty clueless how it all worked.  I was so excited…until we hit a storm and had major turbulence.  I was certain the plane was out of control and on its way down to my demise.  I had no idea that was how planes worked.  I had never really thought much about airplanes and why they stayed in the sky and for that very long trip I felt like I was riding inside a tin can teetering on the brink of destruction.  I think I even kissed the ground when we landed I was so happy to touch down.  Since that time, I’ve flown so many times I really couldn’t give you an exact count.  A flight without a little turbulence is almost a boring flight.  Ha.  I guess I have come a long way but I also go informed.  I was excited to get a book that explains airplanes and air travel to Brooke.

Everything Goes: In the Air is an informative book on air travel accessible for children as young as four.  This book is about a boy named Henry who is going with his family to the airport for his first plane ride.  Henry asks many great questions of his father about flying and his father does an excellent job at answering his son.  I love how it goes into detail of the airplane itself and talks about each section of the aircraft (want to see what a cockpit looks like?  There it is!), how air travel works, different types of aircraft and even talks about how it feels to be on an airplane.  There are a ton of great pictures and charts.  I also love how the illustrations truly capture a busy bustling airport complete with metal detectors.  It is a perfect book for our curious kids about traveling by airplane and considering how common air travel is these days it’s an almost must-read for children before they travel.  It’s a great book to learn about their first flight experience even before they board a plane!
