Product Review: I’m So Glad CD by Alex & The Kaleidoscope Band (All Ages) *Stocking Stuffer*
“Groove-oriented, world music infused rich & textured rock-n-roll.” – Jeff Bogle, Out With The Kids
Did I ever tell you my mom (who played guitar among other things) and I would perform together all the time on songs and skits when I was a kid in front of crowds? I loved every minute of it and it never once bothered me (aka the ‘wallflower’) to perform in front of a crowd since it was more like ‘acting’. I would accompany her on vocals while she played guitar and we would also do funny routines like Cecelia, the funny camp skit. I even danced for a time, which is laughable now with two left feet, but I was determined for a time to be the next Shirley Temple (which of course never panned out! Ha!). We were like the Dynamic Duo when it came to child entertainment and I’ve reclaimed that love through children’s song and the silly dances Brooke and I do together. As soon as she hears music she says, ‘Let’s Dance!” and we do! I am always looking for fun, age appropriate and DANCEABLE music for us which is always playing in our house. As soon as I heard I’m So Glad, I had to have it. Had to! Here was my pros and cons list, which I like to do before I review a product.
Pros:
- 2012 Parents’ Choice Award Winner
- Tillywig Toy “Best Family Fun” Award
- The song “Kangaroo!” was an Independent Music Awards “Best Song for Children” winner
- Songs about Dinosaurs are always COOL
- Multiple World Music Tracks such as the Nigerian song “Fum Wah Alafia Ashe Ashe” (“Give me peace, let it be so …”)
- Awesome danceable mixture of Rock, Folk. Pop and Reggae
- Alex Mitnick, one of the songwriters, used to be head of the Montessori music program at Princeton Montessori School (LOVE!)
Cons:
??????????
This is feel good music at its finest, my readers, and you like to toe tap and hand claps (or do the football touchdown dance that is Brooke’s latest move), you ought to seriously consider I’m so Glad. If you can make a child smile through music, it brightens my day and this album is all about kids feeling happy. After all, don’t we all want our kids to sing, clap and dance and just be GLAD. Yes!
Track Listing:

Cool! I am looking forward to checking out Snow Day — thanks!
And my daughter and yours would get along very well — she will sing and/or dance at the drop of a feather.
