Bento-Ware! Re-Think Your Lunchbox!
If there is one thing I learn more about me each year, it is probably where I fall short and need help in areas. I am not one to pretend I understand when I don’t. In fact, I have a problem getting past things without learning more. There are experts in practically every subject you can imagine and I want to go to the expert if I don’t know the answer! I have really gotten into Bento Boxes and Brooke, Bob and I love the compartments and cool accessories that you can buy to create a healthy and fun lunch for your child. Kids love compartments, don’t they? Ha! But, I get a little overwhelmed knowing just what accessories to get and I am looking at a dual compartment Bento Box as an example. So, what do I do? I asked the expert! Summer at Laptop Lunches was more than helpful in offering her help and advice to those of us who want to be Bento Box lunch experts. Laptop Lunches is extremely cost effective for the Bento novice, so who is with me to find out what I learned?
There are four main categories of Bento Box Accessories and I’m going through the Laptop Lunches Main Picks for each below. Magically, the Laptop Lunches website sells them all and were nice enough to offer me their favorites. All of their picks have made it so nice and easy to make ‘gourmet’ looking lunches without spending a bunch of time or money. Some are pretty self-explanatory like ice packs (although you’d be shocked at how many varieties of these you can find) to the more specific like Fruit and Veggie Cutter. Read and learn, my friend. Perhaps you can also become mildly knowledgeable like me!
- Fruit & Veggie Cutters I had to start with my favorites. I love the two shape fruit and veggie cutters. They are so adorable and seem to cut through anything except your hand. Amazing. There is also two divider cups (see my little spiel on the dividers below), which are adorable
- Ice Packs Considering we have been refrigerating foods since 1756, it’s a little weird more ice packs don’t come with lunchboxes. I like the no fuss $1.99 ice packs this site offers since an icepack with a penguin isn’t that big o’ deal when you can spend the money to have cooler dividers!
- Bento Dividers Some Bento Boxes come with dividers and some do not. If yours does not, then check out these really cool dividers that are easy to clean and have snap top lids. Those cool cupcake bottom looking dividers are neat, but who wants your pudding mixing in with your veggies? Right? I’d snap them in one of these babies and you would be good to go.
- Utensil Sets Sure your child can eat with chopsticks and eat with them well, but these nice looking fork and spoon sets may be right up their alley with these sets for their lunch rooms. Check out their cool cloth napkins to go with the set, too!
Believe me, spend some time with a basic set and in no time you will be asking for personalized cut outs and special color mix edible markers. *shudder* Don’t say I didn’t warn you!
