A CD that Progressively Works Students from Flat Rope Activities to Basic Jump Rope Skills
The very first jump rope song I learned was “Ms. Mary Mack”. Apparently, it was more of a clapping game song, but it was used as a jump rope chant at my playground. I was not much for Double Dutch (ok, it was really because I lacked the coordination), but I loved single jump rope games and chants. I was really excited to find the perfect preschooler and up jump rope activity CD called Rowdy Ropes: Jump Rope Activity Songs.

The Rowdy Ropes CD has 15 original jump rope songs set at an excellent tempo for preschool through elementary age children. The CD is based on live music from the DINONASTICS Kids choir. So cute! Jump aerobics to Puddle Jumping is quite an experience for a child trying to master coordination. I probably don’t need to tell you that jumping rope is great for gross motor skills and listening skills from the CD. You can even involve toddlers with the movement part (sans the jump rope) to get a younger sibling involved! As I was definitely always a novice jumper, I even got to learn new tricks like the straddle and scissor jump which are all nicely incorporated into this CD. This is a great tempo and instructions for the younger set and we had fun trying to do the movement together. Bring back Jump Aerobics!
