Product Review: Jump to the Beat CD (All Ages)
A Jump Aerobics Thriller!
Oh, I have died and went to 1980s heaven! Unless you know me well, you have no idea of my obsession with the young Michael Jackson, especially The Thriller album. I was looking around for some great music and movement CDs for jumping rope (as we now own a kid’s jump rope and I thoughtfully decided that we need some more jumping skills to bring to the table) and almost hyperventilated when I saw this 1984 album still available for purchase through Kimbo Educational. It is like a slice of the most inspirational childhood songs of my youth, including Beat It and Thriller, coupled with something called instructional ‘precision jump roping’ (think countdowns and jump skill category changes like the ‘Four Count Fling’). Wow. Nice. I feel like I need to bust out some leg warmers and headbands for both myself and Brooke and get down to the fabulous Jump Aerobics CD Jump to the Beat.

This album makes me feel almost as giddy as when Bob and I first bought the PS2 Intellivision complete game system that jolted my memory to the old days of the fantastic arcades. If you can’t jump aerobics to the Eye of the Tiger song, than I have to assume you are a robot. Maybe Brooke and I can singlehandedly bring the classic precision jump roping art form into the 21st century and these songs will certainly get you pumped up. Although we both have a long way to go as far as coordination (hers from bring a preschooler, mine from being a klutz), we have certainly have had fun listening to this CD and trying to jump. Okay, more like struggling to jump, but man, is it fun. And seriously, if you can listen to Billie Jean and not try to side step jump I think you may be at least part cyborg. Bring back Jump Aerobics! Someone get on that for me, will ya?
