Product Review: The Girl Who Never Made Mistakes {Hardcover} (Age 4+)
Beatrice Bottomwell has NEVER (not once!) made a mistake……..
I knew a girl (ahhh…ok a lady) who never made “mistakes” (from now on just mistakes). She was my boss at one point in my life and my co-workers would know exactly who I am talking without my using any names. She was quite curt, had few friends and put on airs like you wouldn’t believe but she never made a mistake, especially at work. She and her husband made a lot of money and you knew it. And….I felt sorry for her. No one else could stand to work for her. She was not an easy boss and some days downright impossible, but when she spoke to me…it made me sad but (in spite of that) we had a nice relationship before too long. She seemed to have it all: a dream job, a great education, a smart son and a wonderful husband who worked as much as she did and made even more money. But she never made mistakes and never had friends. It was sad. I remember a few years later I found out her husband died of an early heart attack and I sent her a condolence card. And…she sent me back a thank you card. I didn’t expect it, but I should have. It can’t be easy being perfect.
The Girl Who Never Made Mistakes is about Beatrice Bottomwell who is known for not making a mistake. She doesn’t take chances and always tried to be perfect. She is perfect. Everyone knows it and no one expects her to make mistakes. When she almost makes a mistake, but catches herself, she is panicked! How could she – Beatrice – make a mistake? How? The ending is so lovely and I don’t want to ruin it with my words. Let’s just say, Beatrice realizes she isn’t perfect and is happy and relieved she can laugh and be fallible just like the rest of us!
