A few years ago I had an employee that said she had to be smarter than a second grader when at the time her child was in first grade. Pre-child at the time, I chuckled at her observation. The following year she commented again that she had to be smarter than a third grader and I laughed when I realized that she would continue this quest to always stay one step ahead of her child in the education department. She was her mentor, her tutor and her ‘teacher’ all rolled into one and she never wanted to let her daughter down or say, ‘I just don’t know’. Sure, it’s great when children can complete homework on their own but knowing their workload and having them ask you for help is a good thing. And if you don’t know the answers? Well, they make lots of great study guides and flashcards to help with skill building. Each card includes images on one side and labeled text on the other for a great study testing method. The cards are excellent quality and for all the systems covered, you are getting a great price for the information. Flashcards have always been a great study tool for me and when your child says they need help, this is a great avenue to check out and work the flash cards with your child. There is always getting a tutor although sometimes all your child needs is a new way to look at things in a condensed manner to help them focus, visualize and retain.
