Keep the Kids and Pets Out, And Let the Fresh Air In!
*Cue the movie Jaws scary music* There is a moment of horror when you realize your child can open doors and certain locks. We have been blissfully living in a bubble at night when our child sleeps in her room with a nice little video monitor where we can spy on her if we like with the door safely shut so she isn’t roaming free around the house. Well, there comes a day when a door won’t keep your child inside. Gasp! The shock! The horror! My child is becoming more independent by the day but I still have safety concerns of her roaming outside her room at night. We will get there – just not yet. So what to do? I research of course!
The Door Monkey Childproof Door Lock and Pinch Guard was our answer to a peaceful night sleep. I really loved the door lock and pinch guard, of which we use a similar design on our kitchen cabinets, since the door knob locks and latches, seemed to not work well for many people during my review research. I came across the Door Monkey and was excited to see that this item was created by a mechanical engineer parent who was very frustrated with all the inadequate locks and latches on the market and decided to design his own. Right now, we love it and feel at peace that our daughter is safely inside her room at night. We will bask in the bliss of the unknown future when no locks can keep your child out of their room, but until then, we *heart* the Door Monkey for our Door Monkey.
Some Things to Consider Before Purchase:
- Must be used on a standard 1-3/8″ thick door
- Must have a rectangular door stop moulding (for the Door Monkey to lock onto)
- Can NOT be used on exterior doors. Inside Doors Only!
