Product Review: City Bear Safees with Spiral Attachment *Safety*
Be Seen, Be Safe
I get up early when there isn’t any daylight yet and when I drive to work I see kids walking to school. Or at least, I sort of see them through the haze of the darkness. Only once have I seen a child in a crosswalk with a really bright reflector and I said to myself, ‘Yes, I have to get one for Brooke when she starts to walk to school’. I think of the half-asleep commuters rushing to work with their eyes barely open and it makes me a little panicky to think that a driver may not see a child through the darkness of the morning rush. I was happy to discover Safees which are hard prism reflectors that are attached your child’s clothes at knee or thigh height. By letting the Safees swing freely, facing traffic, it will reflect oncoming cars’ headlights to increase visibility.
Safees traffic safety reflectors each come in wide variety of fun designs and colors. We chose the City Bear Safee because my daughter loves bears and actually likes to wear it. Founder Johanna Denize, who grew up in Sweden wearing reflectors, was not satisfied with the hard prism reflectors in the American market. Scandinavian countries actually have the best traffic safety records in the world and promote reflector-wear that Johanna wanted to re-create for her family to use in the US. After founding her own company, Johanna says her entire family wears Safees. They wear them on their clothes, bikes, strollers and even on their pets! When manufacturing Safees nothing is wasted, no harmful waste is produced and everything is used directly or recycled. Safees are also 100 percent recyclable.
