Product Review: Katie’s Rose {Hardcover} (Age 6+)
Katie’s Rose is a wonderful tale of understanding, acceptance and encouragement to the late bloomers in the world
We live in a fast paced culture. I find myself at times measuring myself or my family to others to quickly snap myself back into reality and realize we are all just different and some things we excel at while others we just do not. No one can fit perfectly into a box and we, as Americans, like to standardize everything and ‘grade’ everyone on the same set of competencies that just does not seem realistic. Katie’s Rose hits home because Katie knows her parents are not happy with the way she is not as grown up as they would like. They call her a Little Late Bloomer and she is having trouble doing her studies. Grandma Rose is here to tell Katie there is nothing wrong with chasing butterflies and stopping to smell the roses and that children like Katie can become misunderstood or labeled as an underachiever when they are simply stopping to appreciate and ‘smell the roses’. Great read for children and parents, especially those students who may be struggling in their own classes.
