Product Review: Meet the Pajanimals DVD (Ages 2-5)
Entertainment that Educates – Snuggle Up Every Night with the Pajanimals
Thanks to a tip from one of my blogger friends (check out Heidi’s blog Free Fun in Austin if you live in the area for awesome local FREE events!) I ended up ‘meeting’ the Pajanimals and both Brooke and I fell in love with these adorable muppets. We do not watch a lot of television since we stick to educational videos (for the most part), so I was unaware of the Jim Henson-based show on Sprout called Pajanimals. I had no idea what we were missing! For those who were in the dark like me, PBS KIDS Sprout is the first 24-hour preschool channel on television geared for ages two through five. The Pajanimals debuted on Sprout in 2008 with a central focus of good nighttime habits. The newest DVD in the Pajanimal collection just dropped on September 11, 2012, and I am happy to report that I found this show not only fun and entertaining, but also educational with a central focus on making easy transitions for this age group that my husband and I think are so important for children.
Meet the Pajanimals DVD follows four ‘children’ puppet friends; Cowbella, Apollo, Sweetpea Sue and Squacky throughout their day. These four friends are always together and go on many exciting adventures it almost reminds me of The Muppet Babies. However, the key difference is that these preschool friends snuggle together every night and sing songs to get ready for bedtime. In fact, this DVD focuses on many fun ways to transition from playtime to bedtime in very healthy ways that my daughter seemed to understand. We are fortunate to have a very smooth transition to bedtime through routine with Brooke, but we definitely love the tips for other transitions throughout the day, especially ‘quiet time’ (no more nap time for our daughter…le sigh!) and little breaks of rest.
