‘Each of us has an artistic spirit just waiting to be discovered!’ Think about that for one second. What a great message to tell our kids. The only limit to our imagination is us and kids are great at being creative, especially with art. This is a book that celebrates talents and explorers of the artistic world whether it is painting, music, writing, cooking, well…you get the idea! It’s an adventure that I would encourage my child to take and never forget to THINK BIG!
Think Big! is a wonderfully fun picture book of color and talent with poetry by Liz Garton Scanlon that celebrates art. ‘Red clay, round wheel. Spin, twirl. Toe, heel.’ The lines are echoed with visions of children making, planning, constructing and rehearsing various artistic endeavors. I am especially drawn to this book as a person who grew up surrounded by art and who is really re-discovering my love of it with my child. Why did I ever let it slip out of my life? I don’t know and I really should not have done that. So, let’s think big and make art and let it continue as we grow up!
