When I was in seventh grade I had my own comic book characters I created and would draw constantly. The ones I still remember, and most drawn, were Pierre the Carrot and the Cheese Monster. Pierre was a painter who was French and the Cheese Monster was very silly and did pranks and said ‘cheese’ a lot. I imagine there are lots of seventh graders out there with their own comic book characters and I loved that a now-adult could take his seventh grade character and turn it into an award-winning children’s book!
Who is Olly and why does he want to save earth? That’s the thing, he didn’t really want to save Earth – at first. It was his mission and he finds out he loves the planet and wants to save it. See, Olly comes from outer space – deep outer space – from the planet Oogleberry. He likes to travel to different planets and race across different galaxies with his band of misfit friends. Olly discovers the wonderful planet of Earth and learns and teaches much to his friendly earthlings (you will love all the side comments and factoids in this book!). But there is also a giant asteroid about ready to impact the Earth and everyone on it! Can Olly and his friend help save Earth?
