Product Review: The Wing Wing Brothers Math Spectacular! [Hardcover] (Geared for ages 4-8)
Mathematical Themes for Children of Computation, Counting, Algebra and (the most important!) Humor
It’s official now! I’ve done more book reviews on Holiday House publishing than any other company. They really should put me on their payroll by now. Ha! All kidding aside, I buy, research, review and recommend Holiday House books because I think they are worth it. This isn’t just Momma’s Bacon talking, this is Momma’s Bacon’s daughter and her husband. In fact, Bob picked out The Wing Wing Brothers Math Spectacular book. OK, so mostly Bob was interested in the silly duck illustrations he knew our daughter would love, but he also loved the creative math story for early education and it has become a nice rotation in Brooke’s favorite book collection.
The Wing Wing Brothers Math Spectacular! is a children’s book with a three part act of the Wing Wing Duck Brothers vaudevillian show of duck brothers Wilber, Wendell, Willy, Walter, and Woody. Their shtick is a crazy and downright slapstick routine about…math. Yes, math! During this three-part-act the Wing Wing Brothers try to upstage each other in mathematical concepts; like, less-than, greater-than and equal to numbers, percentages as well as addition and subtraction. This is really how math lessons for children should be; fun, painless, silly and as spectacular as Ethan Long’s writing.
Check out! Ethan (the writer and illustrator) has his own blog. Check it out here.
