Product Review:  H is for Hair Fairy {Hardcover}‏ (Geared for Children with Cancer)

An Alphabet of Encouragement and Insight for Kids (and Kids at Heart!) with Cancer

Although I personally have not been directly affected by cancer, I don’t know anyone who has not been touched by the disease in some way.  While I can only imagine it is hard enough to deal with the ‘Big C’ diagnosis at any age; it gives me particular sadness and pause when I think of a child who has cancer.  The H is for Hair Fairy book is an encouragement for kids with cancer that started with the Hair Fairy Project back in 1995 by author, Kim Martin who did so in memory of her son, Nolan.  Nolan (1985-1993) battled two bouts of cancer before passing away at age eight.  As a mother of five, three of whom were given the diagnosis of cancer, Kim wanted to give back and offer an alphabet of encouragement and insight for kids with cancer from her perspective as a cancer patient’s mom.

H is for Hair Fairy is a comforting and humorous book for children who are going through chemotherapy and, in particular, are in the process of losing their hair.  The awesome thing about this book is that it mixes comedy with education and much of the book offers practical life information that can help children with cancer cope and offer them relief during this very difficult time.  All proceeds of this book are donated directly to a non-profit account set up for the Hair Fairy Project that was done for Beth and her family by the West 86th Street Optimist Club in Indiana.

Giving Back to the Cancer Community!  All proceeds from this book are donated to a non-profit organization to benefit children with cancer called the Hair Fairy Project.  Check out their website here to hear all they are doing to help children with cancer and, if interested, check out their donations page on how you can help their organization and Hair Fairy Projects.

Note:  Don’t forget that September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month!  Showing Support through Cancer Research Donations is an Awesome Way to Pay Tribute to Children with Cancer.
