Product Review: Economy Metal Polishing Activity (Age 3+)

A Resource for Preparing the Child’s Environment

I am a broken record when it comes to Montessori.  I just love it.  I think it prepares a child to be self-reliant and they learn through observation.  Children want to feel accomplished.  They strive to do well.  They love repetition.  They love order at even a very young age.  They love to organize.  They want to make sense of the world.  Montessori just makes sense to me and it seems to work well with Brooke.  This is my second Montessori Services review (remember the folding towels?) and I have purchased many Montessori items over the years.  I seem to always come back to Montessori Services because you get such a good price for an entire home kit if you are homeschooling or just trying it out for your own home use.  I have been looking (no, more like salivating) at the metal polishing activities and was very excited for the opportunity to test it out ourselves!

The Economy Metal Polishing Activity (Item # PL59) is an all-inclusive polishing kit that can be used on a variety of metals such as brass, aluminum, copper, pewter, silver and chrome. The metal polish is non-toxic and works very well.  To keep costs down, the only thing not included in this set is a child apron and mat.  This was not an issue with us since we are already stocked from previous projects.  Don’t forget to have fun and enjoy and I always find it best to demonstrate without talking first and then give your child the opportunity to follow your lead when they are ready.  They really are like sponges!  Enjoy!

This set includes:

  • All Natural Metal Polish (PM10)
  • Clear Glass Bottle (J82)
  • Round Washable Basket (K02)
  • Glass Eye Dropper (J72)
  • Elliptical Washable Basket (K05)
  • Orange Sticks (P36)
  • Polish Cloth Set (PC12)
  • Cotton Balls
  • 2¼-Inch Glass Bowl (G300)
  • Sponge

Caution!  Use only with ADULT Supervision, thanks!

About Montessori Services:  Montessori Services was founded in 1976 by PA Montessori teacher turned stay-at-home mom, Jane Mills Campbell, with a focus on providing practical life skill activities.  Jane’s goal was to create cost-effective child-sized skill activities for families like mine.  Check out her wonderful story on the About Us page and find out how a new mom with no business plan created a successful business out of her passion from her Montessori classroom teaching experience.  For some really great early education practical life skills, try the pouring and transferring activities page.  I really love the Basic Pouring Water Activity and found it very useful for Brooke.
