Product Review: Once Upon a Potty DVD Featuring The Potty Song (Age 2+)
Fully Animated Version of Alona Frankel’s Best Selling Toilet Training Book
You may know the best-selling toilet training book that was originally published in 1980 by Alona Frankel called Once Upon a Potty. There are two versions of this book through Firefly Publishing; one for a girl (main character Prudence) and one for a boy (main character Joshua). The illustrations look like a product of the 1970s but the underlying potty training message has held true and is still popular today with many spin-off products available based on the books flooding the markets. I really can’t talk about potty training and not mention this DVD that features the “Potty Song” that my daughter LOVES for some reason.
My daughter is a “Once Upon a Potty” song freak and it all started from this video. I mean, she loves that song. Brooke loves it and now I find the song annoying because she plays it over and over; although I am recommending it. I’m including the cartoon video below for your reference so you see my indifference for it (or hey, maybe you will dig it? ); although I admit it has worked. To tell you how effective this song has been, when my daughter had a high fever and we took her to her pediatrician and she wanted a urine sample, all I had to do was sing this song a few times to her and, even though she was feeling very sick, she was inspired to go potty. I don’t know why she is flipping crazy over this song or the video of babies dancing around going to the potty, but she really loves it. The concept of the video and the book are on point, but I think you could start to go a little mad after you hear this song for the 100th time.
