Product Review: G is for Gold Medal: An Olympics Alphabet (K+)
Sleeping Press Sports and Hobbies
This was the first year that my husband and I watched the entire opening ceremony for the 30thSummer Olympics and it was quite an eye opener. These athletes train for years to get their bodies in tip top shape to compete against the best competitors in the world. You can’t help but feel pride for your countrymen and also be in awe of those who work through the pain and win the gold (hello, Michael Phelps!). It was nice to share the Olympics experience with our daughter and, like we normally do, we like to incorporate learning with books. How special that one of my favorite publishing companies, Sleeping Bear Press, had just the ticket!
G is for Gold Medal: An Olympics Alphabet is an informative alphabet book about the history of the Olympics. It starts out with A as in Ancient Greece who started the Olympic Events in Olympia back in 776 BC when it was first recorded. It goes into the re-launch of the Olympics in modern times thanks to France and all the countries that have come together to compete since that time. The amazing history and beautiful illustrations make this book a real winner. It also happens to be quite timely as we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the summer Olympic Games. Highly recommended to all of our little would-be Olympians!
