Product Review: Popsi the World’s First Recycled Doll
Giving the Earth a Helping Hand. Proudly Made in the U.S.A.
Popsi is the first recycled doll that comes with a new book for children called “Popsi The Daughter of Mother Nature”. The doll is a completely recycled doll that includes a tote bag for easy storage. Popsi isn’t just a regular girl; she is a recycled daughter of Mother Nature. Like the story of Pinocchio, Popsi will only remain a ‘real girl’ if she gives Mother Nature a helping hand. Popsi is 100% made from recycled P.E.T. Pet you said? No, not that kind of pet, I am talking about the acronym P.E.T. And, if you are really interested, it stands for Polyethylene terephthalate that was created in 1941 and now makes up the majority of our production of plastic bottles and synthetic fibers. Most P.E.T. bottles are coded with the recycle code of 1 as the international symbol of being a recyclable material and that is how Popsi the world’s first recycled doll is made.
Popsi the World’s First Recycled Doll is the brainchild of Geraldine B. Lewis and her vision to create a fun and easy way for kids to learn about the benefits of recycling. My daughter is not usually a big fan of dolls, but she does understand the concept of things getting thrown in the ‘trash’ versus ‘recycle’ and that is it good to not be wasteful. She LOVED the Popsi book on turning trash into toys (now I just have to keep explaining we can’t turn everything into toy instruments. ha) and that it is important we teach our kids to close that loop of recycling. We can recycle all day but if we don’t use those recycled products, what is the point? The accompanying CD and book are awesome and it is nice to know that all of the Popsi products are made right in the U.S.A. including her hot link eco-chic outfit from recycled bottles, her flowing hair from certified wool and her cuddly body made from certified organic cotton. Best Green Toy Product for sure!
Go Popsi Helping Hand Program: Check out Popsi’s offer at lending a helping hand to help clean up our Earth. There are free educational programs (check out their Educational page here) for our schools geared towards ages 5-10. The CD and Book on this daughter of Mother Nature are equally amazing. Also, if you have a Girl Scout, they can earn the badges; ‘Earth is Our Home” and “Dark Green Petal” through the program!
Did You Know? It takes five recycled bottles to make a Popsi doll which saves 20 minutes of energy!
