Fun in the Kitchen with Rhymes and Recipes

Unlike my husband, I have a hard time following recipes to the letter which could be why my husband is the master chef in our house and I am the sous chef bystander who gets a lot of the grunt work for our family meals.  That is not a complaint, I am perfectly happy with that arrangement 99.9% of the time!  But I am trying to get better at following and making fun and healthy recipes for my daughter.  We get a lot of satisfaction cooking in the kitchen as a family and it is even better if it is a recipe we all enjoy.  Before Brooke came along, we feasted on foie gras, stinky cheeses and coq au vin and although our daughter has a particularly impressive palate for a child, she holds a special place in her heart for the recurring themes of cheese, peanut butter and quesadillas.  I was looking for a fun cookbook with a new batch of kid and family friendly ideas we could both create and eat together with much enjoyment!

The Spaghetti Confetti Cookbook is said to be a collection of recipes and rhymes for families who love food and fun.  My first thought was, ‘I like food and fun with my family’, so let’s do this!  The book starts appropriately with three ‘Bee’ Kitchen Rules; 1. Be Careful 2. Be Clean and 3. Be Prepared.  I loved that!  The books then talks about different important kitchen subjects like ‘How to Measure’, ‘Kitchen Items Needed’, and the six Chapters of table of contents broken down into specific mealtimes.  Some recipes are simple like Jam’N Bagels while others are more complex like the Rocky Road Trail Mix Bars.  There are songs and poems throughout the books that make it practical and entertaining.  It is a perfect cookbook for the entire family and the Spaghetti Confetti recipe is certainly worthy of the book’s title.  Recommend!
