Product Review: The Yoga Garden Game (Age 4+)

Are you looking for a great way to incorporate a FUN yoga activity together as a family? You are in luck, because The Yoga Garden Game does just that. This game was created by a San Francisco yoga teacher, Jennifer Durand, who specializes in teaching children yoga and wanted to create a game to help her students learn in a fun and imaginative way. The Yoga Garden Game is a cooperative game (meaning you are playing with one another instead of against one another) with the sweet objective of planting a flower garden before dark.
The Yoga Garden Game is played by participants moving the single individual marker (a super cute bumblebee piece!) by the roll of a die along the circular board. The game includes a Yoga Garden game board, one bee shaped marker, eight night pieces, eight flower pieces, ten Yoga Garden pose cards, one die and a rule book. A player will have multiple task options to complete such as ‘planting a flower’ or ‘doing a different yoga pose’ depending on the space landed. The game ends by either planting the entire garden or if night has fallen first; meaning all the night pieces have been played. Many of the yoga poses are after objects in nature (a tree pose) and animals (acting like a butterfly or snake) which is perfect for children to use their imaginations and learn yoga poses at the same time. To add to the fun, some yoga poses are illustrated on game cards learned in the game and some can be completely made up. The board illustrations are beautiful and colorful and the physical aspect of the game adds to the fun creativity of incorporating yoga within the entire family. Brilliant!
