A Portable Mat for You and Your Monkeys…….Always on the Go!
I know I talk a lot about my proud Appalachian roots because I am proud of my heritage; but that in no way negates my love of being an Austinite. In fact, besides not being close to immediate family, there is no other place I’d rather live (traffic on I-35 excluded) than in Austin, TX. Why? Because it’s family-friendly, it is a large city with low crime, it is hippy-lovey not hippy-druggie city and winter is like a passing thought instead of a season like the Ohio of my childhood. Plus it is artisan encouraged city (Keep Austin Weird, our fun-loving motto) and I am always on the lookout for Austin creators of children’s products worth championing and I am happy to find one in Austin mompreneur, Christie.
Christie’s Monkey Mat is a clean surface water-repellant mat in an adorable attached pouch that you can easily fold up and take anywhere. Probably the biggest thing that sets this apart from other outdoor mats I have seen is the loops for toy attachments in the center of the mat that is perfect for babies and toddlers. Amazing idea, Christie. The mat is a colorful orange for easy spotting with a place for weights and loops at the end so that the mat does not blow away easily. The corners and tote bag are in an adorable giraffe print that I just love. We were lucky enough to test it out at Brooke’s birthday party with lots of guests and they fell in love with the mat just like our family, so I think this is a major hit on all accounts. Plus it is purely Austin, so that just adds to the coolness factor in my book!
