Product Review: Lemonade Set by BeginAgain Toys (Age 3+)

Thoughtful Product Design and Imaginative Storytelling for Today’s Kids

Ever since I discovered the BeginAgain Toys product line in my research I have felt like I have been keeping a major secret from my blog readers because their products are just that awesome.  Seriously.  I feel relieved my review has finally posted so I can share this gem with you.  I do pride myself on hunting down super cool products for children that are meant to teach, inspire and bring families together and I have to say I am patting myself on the back if any of my readers are discovering this Colorado Company for the very first time.  I was especially jazzed about their very special Lemonade Set since it was a different and unique experience from the usual tea party products I see on the market and right up our family’s alley!

The BeginAgain Toys Lemonade Set is everything your child needs for an imaginative lemonade party that will serve up to four guests and is made entirely out of recycled plastic.  The set includes one lemonade pitcher and lid, four serving cups and saucers, a stirring spoon and (my favorite) one ice cube tray.  Yes, the ice cube tray really works!  What is even better than pretend lemonade?  Real homemade lemonade!  Bob and I made yummy lemonade from scratch while Brooke helped and we were able to enjoy this set together as a family.  I know Brooke will be using this set for years to come and the cuteness factor mixed with functionality really put this toy over the edge for us.  A bonus is that this set is dishwasher safe and has a compact nesting design for easy storage.  Did I mention it is made entirely in the US of A?  Oh yes, our family is in love with this one.

Here’s a little Momma’s Bacon Tip:  Fill the mini ice cube tray with lemonade and freeze so you don’t water down the lemonade goodness!

About BeginAgain Toys:  BeginAgain Toys was created by two of the founding members of the battery-free all-natural Sprig Toys, David Bowen and Chris Clemmer. This Fort Collins, CO Company modeled and broke down their product line after the five daily distinct styles of children’s play (Artist, Writer, Inventor, Sportster and Hero) based on the writings of Benjamin Barlowe.  Read more about their A WISH collection and background here on their website.  I am also quite fond of their Cat Family Puzzle from their Artist line!

The BeginAgain workshop rules – “Ben’s 4 simple rules”

  1. Kids are the true noisemakers! No batteries, no electronics, ever!
  2. Share your ideas, then build.  Collaborate, share, and build in partnership.
  3. Don’t leave a mess.  Take OIL out of play, use plant based materials whenever possible and always reduce, recycle, and seek improvement.
  4. Great products have greater purpose. BeginAgain gives 1% to the community.

“Kids already have the best job in the world, to play. It’s full time work and the way they play shapes the way they grow. The toy box is the child’s first tool box. Toys are meant to inspire kids to draw, build, explore, tell stories, play games, and ultimately save the day.” – Benjamin Barlowe, Inventor and Science Digest, 1959.
