I will never forget a charity fundraising event that happened when I was in middle school where students would donate money and, as an incentive, would get different (what looked like) fuzzy lint balls with googly eyes on them. The kids went crazy and I have a feeling it was the best donation event that our school had that entire year. It is amazing how free prizes can inspire children and what better inspiration when the ultimate prize is their own physical fitness? The GeoPalz Activity Tracker does just that. It is a fitness tracker/pedometer with an online tracking system where the more steps you take, the more prizes your child can win. It really is that simple and, as they say on their website, you just ‘Walk to Win’.
The GeoPalz Fitness Trackers for Kids are stylish looking pedometers decked out in various categories of fashion; Cutesy, Earthy, Edgy, Peace, Rock Star, Sport and Skelanimals. Can you guess which one I picked to review? If you guessed Global Footprint from the Earthy category, you are right! This new accelerometer is water resistant, holds 21 days of step storage, tracking of Moderate to Vigorous Physical Activity (MVPA) and can be worn on either the shoe or hip. So how do you win free prizes? Each GeoPalz has a registration code on the inside of the case to register through the GeoPalz website. Once you start logging your daily activities, you start winning points.
There are three types of free things that kids can win:
- Activity based and Educational products like baseball equipment, hacky sacks, Frisbees, golf equipment, soccer balls, and other games. The items are free with enough points although parents do need to pay for the shipping and handling.
- Certificates that can be printed and displayed with the child’s mileage achievements and steps logged.
