Product Review:  My Little Night Light {Hardcover} (Ages 2-4)

Lighthouse, with your golden beams, Wish us all, “Goodnight, sweet dreams!”

Bob and I have our night time ritual of reading a nice calm book with Brooke before she goes to bed and found our favorite books to read are the ‘good night’ books that help mentally prepare her for dreamland.  This is my second book review on a children’s bedtime book from author Claire Freedman (first review was Snuggle Up, Sleepy Ones) and we really love her incorporation of wildlife at their bedtime.  My Little Night Light has a different twist to our usual bed books because it actually has a lighthouse night light built into the book that has quickly become a favorite for Brooke.

My Little Night Light is a story of a lighthouse on a harbor side that shines so bright year after year just like a night light.  The little lighthouse in the book can be turned on with a push of the ‘lamp’ button and glows brightly until automatically turning off approximately the same time you finish reading each page.  The book comes with batteries and takes replacements of 2 1.5 volt AG10 batteries.  The rhyming verse is sweetly done and Claire loves to incorporate animals into her books and we get to read about the puffins, dolphins, sea turtles and whales that the lighthouse guides and illuminates on their way.  The last page illustrates a sleeping child tucked soundly into bed with the gentle light of the lighthouse glowing softly in the background as we drift off to sleep.  So relaxing!

About Author Claire Freedman:  Claire lives on the Essex coast in England and has authored more than 50 children’s picture books.  Claire’s very first job was a secretary at the BBC and quickly discovered her real passion was writing!  While I love her night time books the best, Claire’s most popular children’s book to date is Aliens Love Underpants about aliens trying to steal our underpants.  Ha!
