Product Review: I Love You, Daddy (Little Golden Book) [Hardcover] (Age 2+)
Celebrate the 65th Anniversary of Little Golden Books!
The very first book I owned was a Little Golden Book. I still have it and it is neatly labeled on the inside cover (thanks, mom!) with the month and year of my birth. My mom started getting the Little Golden Books for my brother and I at a local Woolworth-esque shop in our little village called Benjamin Franklin’s General Store each month on pay day before we could even focus on a book’s page. She read to us from an early age and my own daughter had the good fortune of inheriting my extensive Golden Book collection that my husband and I began to add to each month since her birth. It has become part of our family reading tradition and it is hilarious to think that the little Chugga Chugga Choo Choo sounds my daughter makes to the Little Golden Book Classic Pano the Train were probably the same response I had when my own mom read it to me thirty years earlier. I was really excited when my husband brought home two new (well, new to me) Golden Books called I Love You, Mommy and I Love You, Daddy that he saw in a local store and said he just had to purchase. It is always exciting to get a new book to share with Brooke and it was even more special since they were Little Golden Books about her mommy and daddy.
I Love You, Daddy is a children’s book from the Little Golden Book series that nicely illustrates and talks about kids having fun with their dad. It is a simple, basic book that shows dads spending time with their kids and the importance of being and playing together. Cartoon illustrations of dads camping, going to a petting zoo and hanging out in the park work well with the sweet and simple rhyming verse of how much fun the child is having being with their dad.
