Product Review: Spinny Speller (Ages 3+)

Made in the USA!  Educational Wooden Toys, Games and Gifts.

Ever heard of a Spinny Speller?  I read a lot about kid products and recently ran into these during one of my educational searches and thought it was a brilliant idea.  Basically, a Spinny Speller is three blocks with letters printed on the sides and placed on a dowel for kids to spin and create words in a consonant-vowel-consonant letter combination to blend sounds and learn how to read.

Maple Landmark’s Spinny Speller is an all-wood product with uppercase letters printed on the 1″ by 1 ¼” letter blocks on a 5″ long rod that kid’s spin to make words.  The Spinny Speller makes dozens of words (although it can sometimes spell out nonsense, I did learn that a ‘mig’ means a playing marble) and the point of the product is to create and sound out simple words.  This is a great educational reading tool that is perfect for pre and early readers and I have found it is nice to keep in the car or our to-go bag. I also read one review where a parent praised it for being a great stocking stuffer for her children!

How many words can you make with a Spinny Speller?

Block 1 – B, C, H, M

Block 2 – A, I, O, U

Block 3 – D, G, P, T
