My favorite Dr. Seuss book as a child was Horton Hears a Who! I really liked how Horton the Elephant took care of the microscopic village of Whoville that no one could see but that Horton could hear with his magnificently gigantic ears. I had no idea about Theodor Seuss Geisel’s allegory for the American post-war occupation of Japan; I just felt that I related to the book’s theme of “even though you can’t see or hear them at all, a person’s a person, no matter how small.” To pair this beloved children’s book with matching parent and child oven mitts (see my multiple reviews on cooking with kids products) was a wonderful thing for this family.
