Product Review: Left Hand, Right Hand {Board Book} (Ages 3-6)
‘If you mostly use your right hand to do these things, you are probably right-handed’
It really hit home the importance of knowing the difference between left and right when I was stuck in Madrid as a teen without a good grasp of the Spanish language and needed directions on how to get back to a hotel where I was staying. You can bet that I have never forgotten the words ‘derecha’ or ‘izquierda’ since then! I actually thought back to that frustrating memory when I was showing my daughter the difference between her left and right foot when putting on her shoes and wanted to get a fun book that would help her visually understand the difference of left and right. Happily, Barron’s Educational series just came out with a newly formatted version of their popular children’s board book title Left Hand, Right Hand.
Left Hand, Right Hand is a 16-page hand-shaped board book geared for ages 3-6. The book is designed for children to match their own hand against the illustrations on the front and back cover (this was quite a success with Brooke!) and offers plenty of visuals on what it means to be left or right handed. The cartoon pictures show children doing different activities such as drawing or brushing their hair and talks about how to distinguish between the two. This is a great concept book for children and is a great guide on helping our little ones understand the difference between left and right.
