Product Review: eco-finger paint by eco-kids (All Ages)
Creative Play the Natural Way
Doing art work with your child is such a fun and messy adventure and I feel so much better knowing that our art supplies come from all-natural ingredients. Brooke has been finger painting with food-based paints since she was 6 months old and we love our family art projects. I am always interested in trying out new natural art supplies and thought that the eco-kids product line looked like a fun experiment.
The eco-kids eco-finger paint set comes with 5 4-ounce baggies with powder-based handmade all-natural products of fruit, plant and vegetable extracts. Yes, you can actually pronounce all of the ingredients; annatto seed, beets, carrots, curcumin, purple sweet potato, red cabbage, spinach, flour, cornstarch, wheat paste and earth clay! All you need to do is mix the powders with water in a 1:1 ratio to start the finger paining fun. These finger paints did not disappoint! The colors are nice and bright, Brooke had a fabulous time and made many awesome ‘bear’ paintings (her new favorite animal to draw) with the added bonus of giving Bob and I peace of mind having all-natural extracts as her paint. We also incorporated mixing up the powder and water as a fun family mixing event (we like to add a little more powder to the water than recommended for a special Momma’s Bacon family consistency blend) which was really sweet. Gluten free fans! Gluten free eco-paints are also available for an additional cost through the eco-kids website.
About eco-kids: eco-kids is a family run business that produces all-natural art supplies from Portland, Maine. Parents, Cammie and Kip, together with their three kids (Jack, Maggie and Gus) began creating natural art supplies as a nice activity for the family to do together. They began to sell their products at local Farmer’s Markets in 2008 and now run a successful e-commerce site that offers a wide-variety of natural art supplies for purchase. Here is the direct link to their product page including the really cool handmade eco-glue. Check out their new eco-kids blog for the family’s musings on living naturally!
