Product Review: Stichting Global Kids Show: Season One DVD (Age 5+)
An hour and a half of global understanding for the entire family!
It is a real disadvantage to not think about our world on a global scale. I feel it is important to have an interest in learning other cultures while still maintaining a pride in our own culture. In today’s global economy, we interact with many diverse populations on a daily basis and I feel strongly about wanting to maintain a respectful and peaceful relationship with others and hope to pass that on to my daughter. I love the Stichting Global Kids Show’s idea of creating intelligent media programming that showcase similarities of children in different countries while having children share and take pride in their own culture.
Stichting Global Kids Show Season One DVD is a journey that covers interesting things about children by children in five different countries in an hour and a half DVD. The five countries covered in Season One are Australia, The Netherlands, India, The Philippines and New Zealand. In each country you meet three local children who each showcase a special activity that they love to share. At each location one child shares a physical activity, the second shares a mental or educational activity, and the third child shares a creative activity that comes from the heart. It is really sweet and educational! The Global Kids Show has been translated into Arabic (broadcast on Al Jazeera Children’s Channel) and Spanish (broadcast on PakaPaka in Argentina and around South America). Allison has also given the show to developing nations in Africa for free broadcast. This is education for kids with a global scale perspective.
Charity! All profits from the Global Kids Show DVD go back into either creating more shows in different countries or 15% benefit children’s charities worldwide (see a few of the charities they donated to below). Stichting Global Kids will also work with schools and kid-focused organizations that cannot afford the show to receive it for free anywhere in the world. Wonderful!

About Co-Founder Allison Cody: A Tennessee native who graduated from Tulane University in New Orleans with a degree in Mass Communications, Allison was living in Amsterdam with her husband Sean who was teaching at The International School of Amsterdam when the idea for the Stichting Global Kids Show began. The results of Sean’s class assignment about having his young students share their favorite activity in a way if they had to present it to children in other countries inspired both Allison and Sean. They were so motivated by the idea that children in one country could enlighten children of other countries about their culture and favorite activities that they both quit their jobs and started Stichting Global Kids in 2004. Ever since 2004, Allison and the Stichting Global Kids team have been driven to create positive media for children with the intent of having active, curious and globally aware citizens!
