Product Review:  Webwilds Baby Orangutan by Folkmanis® Puppets (Safety-tested for All Ages, Recommended Age 3+)

The Most Innovative, Creative, Puppet Maker in the World!

I was 8 or 9 years old when I was convinced I was going to be a ventriloquist.  Although I had been a Jim Henson fan, it was only after I had read a book on Shari Lewis and her sock puppet lamb called Lamb Chop circa 1960s fame that I thought it was something I wanted to do.  I had begged my mom to buy a Billy Bologna puppet from the PeeWee’s Playhouse Saturday morning cartoon as soon as the replicas hit stores and my quest at throwing my voice began when the puppet was the highlight of Christmas that year.  While ventriloquism did not pan out since my ability to create an illusion of talking without moving my lips was laughable, it did give me a fondness for puppetry and it looks like my daughter might follow in my footsteps. I was familiar with the Folkmanis Puppets and have been drawn to the beautiful handcrafted life-like animal puppets for some time.  I could not resist the adorable baby orangutan puppet that has been on the market since 2008 not only for the cuteness factor but also for the added bonus of learning about this endangered species.

The Webwilds Baby Orangutan is an award-winning puppet by the mom and pop operation called Folkmanis Puppets.  The orangutan is an endangered ape that only lives in the threatened habitat of the Indonesian rainforest and each Webwilds puppet comes with a unique online code that allows additional online learning about the animal.  This beautiful puppet is a close interpretation of a real baby orangutan and has a movable mouth, arms and legs.  This furry animal is 9 inches in height and a great size for a child to control.  I find this to be a great toy for imaginative play for a child.
