Product Review: WEDGiTS Starter Set (Recommended Age Range 2 to 6 Years)
Fun and Challenging, Multi-dimensional Building Block Sets
WEDGiTS are educational, multi-dimensional building block sets for kids. The toys are made in open-ended and easy-to-grasp geometric shapes for free-play with learning aspects of angles, color matching and creative design. There are three different types of WEDGiTS sets based on appropriate age groups. Wee WEDGiTS are designed for ages 1-3, WEDGiTS for the 2-10 age group and mini WEDGiTS are geared for ages 5-12. I chose to do a review on the WEDGiTS Starter Set for the recommended age range of 2-6 to test out on Brooke and to check out this starter pack that has been chosen as a winning product by the National Parenting Center and Parent’s Guide to Children’s Media to see if it lived up to the hype!
The WEDGiTS Starter Set includes 15 multi-colored building block pieces made from non-toxic, phthalate and BPA-free hard plastic that are especially geared towards toddlers and pre-school aged children. Although the intent is for free design play, this set also comes with a design booklet to give your little ones ideas on what designs they can build with this set. The nice thing is that this set is compatible with all the other WEDGiTS products, so if your child is especially taken with this set, it is a toy that will grow with them. As an avid block stacker, Brooke took to this set right away. Although she is not interested in the design book at this point, she is getting a lot of use out of trying to stack the different shapes and naming each block’s primary color. The building blocks are rather large which makes them perfect for toddlers and the WEDGiTS website also suggests this starter set is also fantastic for children with special needs. I am curious to see how Brooke’s designs will grow as she gets older and this is a fun set to not only build designs but also your child’s imagination.
