Product Review: Spanish Matching Cards Juego de Pares (Ages 3+)
Inspiring Young Minds
Learning Spanish while playing a fun memory matching card game definitely made me take notice of this Whistlefritz product. That and, I will admit, I liked the really cute name of Whistlefritz. This memory game takes familiar actions that kids will relate to, like kicking a ball, and incorporating the corresponding Spanish words for a fun anytime activity. The memory matching improves concentration for your little ones while building confidence of their Spanish vocabulary.
The Whistlefritz Spanish Matching Cards Juego de Pares includes fifty (twenty-five paired) cards of Spanish verbs that are playfully illustrated with the loveable Whistlefritz character, Rico. This is the basic card matching game with a Spanish language twist. The cards are placed face down and turned over two at a time each turn. If you find a match, you get to keep the card pair and the player with the most matches wins. If you are playing with a toddler, like me, it is good to modify the game by only introducing a few cards at a time and leave the playing with the full deck for older children and adults. My daughter liked to point out all the silly things Rico was doing on the cards, especially on the ‘Tocar’ card which features Rico touching a blue balloon (balloons are a current obsession for her). This is a fun matching game featuring Spanish verbs that will grow with Brooke as she gets older and help inspire her Spanish language skills!
About Whistlefritz: Whistlefritz was started by a Glen Echo, MD (right outside DC) mom in 2006 who wanted to create high quality Spanish Immersion program products for children when she felt she could not find products available that were accessible to both native and non-native Spanish speakers. Check out the Products section of the website for a variety of Whistlefritz products including CDs and DVDs. Their latest DVD is entitled La Fiesta de Fritzi (Fritzi’s Party) about the character Fritzi’s 5th birthday and is geared for ages 2-7. It looks so cute and I want to check it out for a possible upcoming review for interested readers.
